WHY WE NEED RESIDENT INVOLVEMENT
Cosmopolitan believes that resident involvement should be at the centre of everything we do and we want to develop a culture of involvement that underpins all of our work. This enables us to support communities and strive for excellence.

GETTING INVOLVED - GETTING IT RIGHT!
We are committed to constantly improving the service we offer and believe that involving you and listening to your views will help us to do this.

The aim of the Resident Involvement Team is to involve as many of our residents as possible in improving services the Association provides.

There are lots of way you can get involved and you don't have to attend meetings if you don't want to.  Getting involved can mean lots of different things, from filling out a questionnaire to coming along to a fun day.  We don't expect you to be out of pocket when you get involved so we will always pay your travel costs and offer childcare or carers' costs if it's appropriate.  We also provide free refreshments at meetings.

You can get involved in a way that suits you, the choice is yours!

RESIDENT SCRUTINY IS ON THE WAY!
The Tenant Services Authority (TSA) was set up as a result of the Housing and Regeneration Act 2008 and became operational in December 2008 as the new independent regulator charged with promoting and championing the interests of social housing tenants in England .

The TSA want to encourage landlords and tenants to work together to improve the levels of service delivered.  The emphasis is on ‘resident led scrutiny’ or ‘co-regulation’ and will be a valuable tool for ensuring residents can hold their landlords to account for their performance and behaviour.

Cosmopolitan has embraced this challenge and recognised the need to set up a resident body, which will have access to performance information, reports, policies and staff.  Their role wil be to scrutinise performance and make suggestions where necessary, on areas the association can improve its performance or services it provides.  It will be part of a co-regulation approach of the association with the board of management.  This is in line with the proposals being made by the Tenant Services Authority.

This is a new and exciting opportunity for residents and you can have real influence with the future scrutiny group in service delivery and direct change within the organisation.  Find out more by contacting Julie McNally on 0151 224 0379 or email jmcnally@cosmopolitanhousing.co.uk
